EDELWEISS AVE. RESIDENCE

A cutting edge contemporary design that respects its environment by introducing rustic and mountain inspired materials. The main level provides an open floor plan that combines the living and family areas with an open kitchen. These open spaces flow seamlessly onto the exterior terraces through large sliding glass doors, which can be fully concealed in the adjacent walls. The outdoor spaces and terraces, including a pool area, all blend together to accentuate the outdoor living experience. The exterior architectural design motif is arranged into single and multi-story facades of flat and single slope roof lines, with the exposed timber structures projecting from the roof lines reminiscent of timber arbors. The juxtaposition of different exterior wall materials, concrete plaster and rusted metal panels, develops a striking contrast and accentuates the varied modular aspects of the design. Combine these modular elements with the open all glass facades, and the design takes on a transparency that blurs the boundary between the built and natural environment. The architecture presents an ever changing appearance from the monolithic daytime composition, to the transparent and crystal like effect of the interior light streaming through the windows like jewels at night.
